Vanishing
2022 acrylic on linen, 40 x 44″
I discovered this evocative tree in Paris, at the Luxemburg Gardens. The trees in the park were yellow, and the tree was reclining in a human-like way that I became fascinated with its position. I painted it floating in the sky because it reminded me of a tree-like bird that would be flying away to soon disappear. The tree is so beautiful and flowing as it recedes from sight. Trees also recede during the winter when they lose their leaves and display their intriguing exposed limbs and branches.
