Close Call
I received the jurors prize from Ann Philbin, then Director of The Drawing Center in New York City, for this drawing. It was used as publicity for a show in the Muscarelle Museum at the College of William and Mary in Virginia. I received a cash prize for it. The best thing is, the work sparked my continuing love of charcoal that I developed in art school, and made it a contemporary media that freely expressed my hybrid vision of the human-tree interconnection.
